KNOCKOUT RULES

ALL KNOCKOUTS ARE TO BE PLAYED FIRSTLY AND FOREMOSTLY ACCORDING TO THE ROYAL AND ANCIENT RULES OF GOLF.

 1.     All good-standing members of the Redskins are eligible for both the “Singles” and “Doubles” Knockout competitions.

  2.     The onus lies on the member to inform the Committee of his:

 i.      Non-participation.

 ii.      Partner.

3.     Members have 2 (two) weeks after the AGM to inform the Committee, failing this, the Committee will assume participation and may partner non-paired players.

4.     Once a pairing has been arranged and entered, no substitution of partners shall be permitted if the pair have actually played a competitive round.

5.     All local club rules will apply. In case of a dispute, in which a ruling cannot be agreed upon during play, then a player may bring a second ball into play for the remainder of that hole. On completing the game or the nine holes, whichever is first, the ruling of the local pro will be sought and accepted. Failing that the Redskins captain will make the decision.

6.     All members will play with the lowest of there two prevailing handicaps, official or Redskins handicaps.

7.     The BOTTOM drawn player/s in each match shall be responsible for making all arrangements for the match and for reporting the result. They shall give their opponents at least 3 dates (prior to the cut-off date) on recognised Redskins days. Once a date has been chosen it can only be changed by mutual consent.

8.     The results have to be communicated to the Captain/Vice Captain NOT later than a week after the cut off date. Failing to do so the Top player/s will be considered as the winner/s.

9.     Any matches, in any round, which have not been played by the date determined for the completion of the round, shall be deemed to be in default. The defaulting pair shall be eliminated. If Committee gets no notification from defaulting party, by due date, then the top drawn player/s will go through to the next round.

10. Any knockout game, which has resulted in a draw after 18 holes, must seek a result that same day. Game will resume on same hole in which match play started. Only if light or weather is a prevailing factor may the game be postponed to an alternate date. Then all 18 holes must be replayed and no further handicap allowance being given to either side.
